Our Healthcare and Life Sciences Advisory Council meets regularly to guide our product roadmap and advise us on new healthcare regulations, challenges and requirements. We are proud to have the following industry thought leaders serve on our Council:



Chairperson

Jean Wright, MD, MBA

Vice President, Innovation

Jean Wright, MD, MBA, is responsible for leading the advancement of innovation initiatives throughout Carolinas HealthCare System (CHS) as the Vice President of Innovation. Her focus is on working with teams to raise the bar for improvement in new clinical strategies, novel medical technologies, new business development, innovation design, and the spread of innovation across the system.

Prior to her role in Innovation, Dr. Wright practiced as a pediatric anesthesiologist and intensivist. She held positions as a physician executive at Emory (including vice president of medical management for Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta), the chair of pediatrics for Mercer, and executive director for Memorial Health’s Children’s and Women’s Hospital in Savannah, and was the Chief Medical Officer for CMC-NE. Dr. Wright was also the principal investigator for the Southern Piedmont Beacon Community. In this role, she oversaw projects that provide innovative approaches to disease surveillance, management of chronic disease, sharing of health information, enhancing the ability of case managers to work more effectively with patients and providers, and demonstrations of novel ways to virtually connect with patients and providers.

She is also a health services researcher, has served on several federal advisory committees, and given testimony in the U.S. House of Representatives and U.S. Senate. She holds a BS degree from the University of Michigan, an MD degree from Wayne State University, and an MBA degree from Emory’s Goizueta School of Business.

Sean Cassidy

Vice President & General Manager

Sean Cassidy is vice president and general manager of Premier’s ITS emerging business unit. He is responsible for the company’s enterprise data warehousing, advanced analytics and population health businesses. Sean came to Premier from IBM, where he was responsible for healthcare product strategy and management for the Information Management division of IBM Software Group.

Sean previously served as senior vice president and general manager, healthcare, for Initiate Systems, which was acquired by IBM in March of 2010. At Initiate, he was responsible for leading the company’s healthcare business globally and driving its growth. Prior to joining Initiate, Sean held executive positions at a number of enterprise software and e-commerce companies. He began his career as a technology and management consultant at Andersen Consulting (now Accenture).

Jeff Elton, Ph.D.

Managing Director

Jeff Elton is Managing Director Accenture Strategy and Global Lead of Predictive Health Intelligence, focused on big data and advanced value analytics for next generation care management models.  Jeff has over 20 years of experience as a global executive and consultant in the biopharmaceutical and healthcare sectors.

From 2004 through 2009, Jeff served as Senior Vice President of Strategy and Global Chief Operating Officer at Novartis Institutes of BioMedical Research, Inc. (NIBR) in Cambridge, MA. He worked on the set-up of NIBR from board of directors white paper through full realization over 8 years.  In his role he led the definition of therapeutic area strategies, formed strategic partnerships, and oversaw global operations in the US, Europe, and Asia.

Jeff was founding CEO of an oncology molecular diagnostics and therapeutic pathways company, and founding board member and senior advisor to five early stage companies in Parkinson’s, protein therapeutics, diabetes, oncology therapeutics, and oncology diagnostics.

Prior to Novartis, Jeff was a senior partner with McKinsey & Company for pharmaceutical & medical products practice where he focused on healthcare delivery strategies, new product launches, global commercial management structures, and R&D performance.

Evan Grossman

Vice President

Evan Grossman is athenahealth’s Vice President of Client Performance, responsible for provider and practice optimization. Prior to his current role, Evan served as vice president, consulting responsible for athena’s consulting organization and vice president, product strategy, responsible for the athenaClinicals Electronic Health Record service.

Evan joined athenahealth in 2010 after serving in senior management positions at several technology-based companies, most recently as managing director, EMEA Retail, for RedPrairie Corp. He has also been a consultant with McKinsey & Co. and a journalist with PC Week. He obtained a bachelor’s degree from Harvard University.

Nish Hartman

VP of Healthcare

Nish Hartman, Healthcare Director at Predixion Software, is an experienced leader at building and executing strategies for innovative healthcare solutions. Nish gained much of her hands on leadership experience early in her career when she was responsible for developing, deploying and managing a global account organization for Fortune 500 clients. Prior to joining Predixion, she held leadership positions at Microsoft, Sun Microsystems and Oracle.

Tom Lawry

Director, Worldwide Health

Tom Lawry serves as Director, Worldwide Health for Microsoft. In this role he works with health providers, payors and governments in planning and implementing innovative technology solutions that improve the quality and efficiency of health services delivered around the globe. He focuses on strategies for health information modernization, business intelligence and performance optimization. He previously served as Director of Organizational Performance for Microsoft’s health incubator (Health Solutions Group).

Prior to Microsoft Tom served as a Senior Director at GE Healthcare with global responsibilities for the development of enterprise-wide revenue cycle management and operational performance solutions. Lawry was also founder and CEO of Verus, a U.S.-based healthcare software company named as one of the Top 100 Fastest Growing Washington Companies for three consecutive years and to the Deloitte Fast 500 Technologies list.

He has served in various executive management roles in hospitals and integrated delivery networks in the United States and has published over 30 articles on topics relating to use technology and software to innovate healthcare.

David F. Lobach, MD, PhD, MS

CEO and Founder, Klesis Healthcare

Dr. David Lobach is a nationally recognized medical informatician specializing in clinical decision support and a practicing physician with over 20 years of experience designing, developing, implementing, and evaluating applied information systems that enable innovative new approaches to health care delivery.

He is currently the CEO, founder and lead consultant for Klesis Healthcare, a company dedicated to advising clients in pragmatic uses of data and technology to improve care. Dr. Lobach is also an Associate Consulting Professor on the faculty of the Duke University School of Medicine. He has published nearly 100 peer-reviewed manuscripts.

Dr. Lobach received his BS degree in Biology (Summa Cum Laude) from Bucknell University, his MD degree from the Duke University School of Medicine, his PhD degree in Immunology from the Duke University Graduate School, and his MS degree in Biomedical Engineering (Medical Informatics) from the Duke School of Engineering. He was elected to fellowship in the American College of Medical Informatics in 2004 and to the American College of Physicians in 2001.

Steve Liu, M.D

Chief Medical Officer & Board Member Ingenious Med

Dr. Liu is the founder of Ingenious Med and creator of the original application. He served 10 years as the company’s CEO and now functions as a board member and CMO. He has previously served as an assistant professor of medicine, medical site director, and director of medical informatics for the Hospital Medicine Division at Emory University in Atlanta.

Before his pursuit of medicine, Dr. Liu earned a B.S. in engineering science from the University of Virginia and completed his residency in internal medicine at Washington University, Barnes-Jewish Hospital. Dr. Liu is currently involved in multiple projects involving revenue cycle optimization and government pay-for-performance drives while continuing to practice as a hospitalist physician at Scripps Healthcare in San Diego, CA. He is an active member and senior fellow of the Society of Hospital Medicine and participates in the Society’s Practice Management and Public Policy – Practice Issues committees. Dr. Liu has received recognition as one of the nation’s top hospitalists by the American College of Physicians and was the 2011 recipient of Modern Physician’s Physician Entrepreneur of the Year.

Glen Schuster

Glendon Schuster is an established thought leader in Business and Systems Integration and Solution Delivery Excellence.
