To use the SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS) engine, you must enable the engine and have an instance of SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS) installed on the target computer. You cannot use SQL Server versions earlier than SQL Server 2008 R2, and depending on the SSAS features you want to use, later versions of SQL Server might require that cumulative updates (CUs) or service packs (SPs) be installed.
If you install SSAS after you complete Setup, you can enable the SSAS engine on the PredixionAdmin intranet portal. Similarly, if you chose not to enable the SSAS engine during setup, you can enable it on PredixionAdmin. For more information see, Managing Server Configurations.
The target computer must also meet the overall requirements for Predixion Insight™ 4.0. For more information, see Requirements.
During setup, you can choose a default or custom installation.
When you choose the default installation you will have at least one analytic engine, SSAS or R, installed, enabled and ready to use after you complete Setup without making further setup selection.
Setup looks for SSAS and R on the target computer. If an instance of SSAS is found, the SSAS engine is enabled. If R is installed and it is R 3.01 or later, R is enabled; otherwise, the latest version of R is installed. SSAS is never installed for you.
When you choose the custom installation, you can set the following options for SSAS and the SSAS engine:
You can test the connection to the SSAS instance during Setup.
