Professional services firm cites disruptive pricing, ease-of-use, and compatibility with
Microsoft's business intelligence platform in purchasing Predixion Insight™
Orange County, CA – July 19, 2011 – Predixion Software today announced that Sullexis LLC, a professional services firm with domain expertise in energy, financial services and healthcare, has purchased Predixion Insight™, Predixion Software's flagship collaborative predictive analytics solution that is fully integrated with Microsoft Corp.'s business intelligence (BI) platform.
Sullexis recently launched a new service based on Predixion Insight to help its energy clients rapidly identify relevant line items for eCatalogs, price sheets and price books. eCatalog line items are a critical part of any Procure-to-Pay (P2P) initiative enabling organizations to drive spend against contract, automate procurement, validate invoice pricing and facilitate spend analysis.
According to Sullexis Managing Director Tim Morgan, the time to activate a fully defined, detailed electronic catalog (eCatalog or price sheet) for eProcurement in oil and gas is surprisingly high—sometimes weeks to many months. In addition, the precision and accuracy of eCatalogs is surprisingly poor, with large numbers of incorrectly priced items, eCatalogs with no line items as well as items that were never purchased, Morgan said. “Sullexis has identified an opportunity using Predixion Insight to greatly decrease the costs of building and maintaining eCatalogs.”
Using Predixion Insight, Sullexis has developed a predictive analytics solution that streamlines the creation and maintenance process while improving the precision and accuracy of the line items that are added to an eCatalog. The service uses Predixion Insight to identify potential items from any available transaction data, even ‘free text'. The solution, having identified an item, then looks at the purchasing history to make a recommendation on whether or not an item should be included in an eCatalog. The solution uses a statistical model to predict the probability that an item will be purchased in the future; eliminates dependency on suppliers for spend reports; significantly reduces eCatalog creation cycle time; leverages existing material masters; reduces the creation of unnecessary material masters; and lowers item/eCatalog cost and overall eCatalog creation cost.
According to Morgan, Predixion Insight was selected for its “break down the barrier” pricing, ease-of-use and compatibility with Microsoft's BI platform. “Compatibility and integration with the Microsoft BI platform was very attractive for us,” Morgan said. “Predixion Insight fully integrates with Microsoft Excel® 2010 and SharePoint® and accesses data from our SQL Server 2008 database.
“Predixion Insight is fairly easy to learn and start using which was crucial as our consultants, while well versed in BI, lacked in-depth expertise with predictive analytics,” Morgan added. “Predixion Insight enables us to create our models quickly and obtain tangible results. We were on a tight schedule and didn’t have time for extensive ramp up.”
According to James Taylor, one of the leading experts in predictive analytics and decision management and CEO of Decision Management Solutions, Predixion Software has worked diligently to reduce the complexity and costs associated with predictive analytics. “Sullexis represents the ideal Predixion customer profile—organizations with skilled BI practitioners running Microsoft BI who want to deploy decision management initiatives but who lack predictive analytics expertise,” Taylor said. “Using Predixion to build and share predictive models that improve day-to-day decision-making is a powerful use case.”
